We use what the site needs to work and to keep you signed in. Analytics only run if you say yes in our cookie banner, and we do not use advertising cookies.
Analytics, only after you accept
If you say yes to analytics in our cookie banner, Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_* cookies (they tell visits apart; up to 2 years), and our site keeps two small notes so the same event isn't counted twice: dc-ga-once (session storage, until you close the tab) and dc-ga-auth (local storage, until you clear it or delete your account). None of these is set if you reject analytics.
Google Tag Manager
Every page loads Google Tag Manager, a script from Google that we use for Google Analytics. Unless you agree to analytics it stays switched off: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and sends nothing to Google Analytics. Like any file your browser fetches, loading it shares your IP address and browser details with Google.
Stored in your browser
Your basket is kept in your browser's local storage so it survives a page refresh, along with two display settings for your account page: which result messages you have dismissed, and how many times a winner's celebration has played. This stays on your device, and deleting your account clears it on the device you delete from. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
People viewing now
The count of people viewing a competition uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device. While a competition page is open, your browser checks in with a random number that exists only for that visit.
