This policy explains what personal data Daily Comps collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what your rights are. Daily Comps Ltd (company number 17490633, registered office 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom) is the data controller for personal data collected through this site, and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number ZC264035. What we collect
Your account: your name, email address and phone number. Signing in is handled by our sign-in provider, Clerk; if you choose to sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email address with us. Eligibility and delivery: your date of birth, your confirmation that you are 18 or over, and your UK postal address. Your entries: the competitions you enter, your ticket numbers, what you paid and when, Instant Win plays, credits, any Members Club membership and any charity donation you reveal. Free postal entries: the details written on your postcard, which we add to your account; the postcard itself is securely destroyed once your entry is logged. Messages you send us from your account. Winners: if you win and agree to it, your first name, the initial of your surname, your county (or town), and any photo and review you give us, for our Winners page. We never publish your full surname or address. Technical data: our servers record IP addresses, browser details and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and working. We do not take card payments at the moment; when we do, your card details will be handled by our payment provider and will never be stored by us.
How we use it, and why
To run your account and your entries, hold the draws, contact winners and deliver prizes, run credits and Members Club, and answer your messages: this is necessary to perform our contract with you. To check that entrants are 18 or over and live in the UK, to prevent fraud and misuse (such as entries over the per-person limit), and to keep the site secure: this is in our legitimate interests and required by our competition terms. To keep accounting and tax records and to respond to lawful requests from the authorities: the law requires it. To publish a winner's name, photo or review, and to send marketing emails: only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We do not currently send marketing emails. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for profiling; winners are picked by a random draw, not by any assessment of you.
Who can see it
Only authorised Daily Comps staff can see your details in our admin system, and only to run competitions, deliver prizes, handle free postal entries and answer your questions. We use these service providers, who act on our instructions: Clerk (sign-in and account security, United States), Render (hosting; our servers are in Frankfurt, Germany), Neon (our database, hosted in Frankfurt, Germany), Resend (sending our emails, United States), iubenda (our cookie banner, Italy) and Google (Google Tag Manager, which loads on every page but stays switched off unless you agree to analytics, United States). If you win, your name and delivery address are shared with the courier delivering your prize. Where a provider handles data outside the UK, we rely on the safeguards UK law allows, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum in their data processing terms. We may also share data where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Your account details: until you delete your account, when they are deleted straight away. Payment and accounting records: six years, as UK tax law requires. The public draw record (each competition, its winning ticket number and how many entries it had) is kept permanently and contains no personal data. After you delete your account we keep a few anonymous business records, such as the entries bought in competitions that have already been drawn (what was paid and when), a note that a free postal entry was received or a charity pledge we made, with nothing that identifies you. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a short period and then deleted.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from your account page (Profile, then Delete your account) by typing DELETE to confirm, or you can ask us to do it for you. Deleting your account is permanent: you forfeit every entry you hold, including competitions that have not been drawn yet, and any prize not yet delivered, and your credits and any membership end. Your personal details are deleted straight away and your sign-in account is closed.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict or stop using it, ask to take it to another service, and withdraw any consent you have given. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113).
Age
Daily Comps is only for people aged 18 or over. If we learn that someone under 18 has given us personal data, we delete it.
Security
The site uses encrypted connections, sign-in is handled by Clerk, access to our systems is limited to authorised staff, and account and admin data from our servers is never stored in your browser's cache.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date at the top, and we will tell you about any significant change.
